About Me

My Backstory

My Personal Finance Journey

Looking back, my interest in personal finance started early. Saving, planning, and being intentional with money have always been part of my life—though I didn’t realize at the time how much those small habits would shape my future.

Age 8: My Aunt used to joke, “Woah, Mark, I can see the moths flying out!” whenever I opened my wallet. Even then, I valued saving more than spending.

Age 16: I got my first introduction to personal finance through my parents’ financial advisor, which gave me a strong foundation in the importance of saving and long-term planning.

Age 21: Fresh out of college, I started my first job with a net worth of $1,000—thanks to a summer internship. It wasn’t much, but it was a start.

Age 23: I had built a six-month emergency fund, saved for a down payment on my first home, maxed out my retirement contributions, and created a spending plan that allowed me to invest an extra $400 a month. These habits set the stage for my financial independence journey.

Today: I’ve retired from corporate America and built a life where money gives me freedom—not stress.

My journey wasn’t about extreme frugality or chasing the next big investment. It was about making intentional choices, staying consistent, and designing a life where finances support my goals instead of limiting them.

Wherever you are on your path, know that small steps add up. You don’t have to have everything figured out today—just start.

The Nitty Gritty

I graduated from Ohio University with a dual Bachelor’s in Business Administration, majoring in Management Information Systems and Business Management & Strategic Leadership.

Since 2020, I’ve been running Your Money Mark, helping people develop a healthy personal finance mindset, increase cash flow, and create personalized spending plans. Through frequent check-ins and accountability, I guide people toward financial confidence—without the stress or overwhelm.

My background in FinTech and product management has given me a unique perspective on personal finance. I’ve spent years analyzing user behavior, identifying money pain points, and designing solutions that make managing money easier for millions of users. Now, I bring that same problem-solving approach to financial coaching—helping you create a plan that actually works for your life.

Money doesn’t have to be complicated.

“I was initially apprehensive about diving into this process with someone else, but I couldn’t be happier that I did. From the very first minutes of our first call together, Mark effortlessly and sincerely put my nerves at ease. He was so personable and positive, it really made me feel confident that my goals were not only attainable, but attainable much quicker than I expected.”
